From developing the plot to creating the sound design and music, the children were fully engaged in the creative process, showing how easy children, with the help of adults, can create fully-fledged audiobooks by simply being involved in every stage of their creation.
The project took place in 2017 and lasted for four months as part of a bachelor’s degree project at UWL University.
Schatzjäger #
Schatzjäger was the initial pilot project, conducted in collaboration with SOS-Kinderdorf Düsseldorf and MGH Hell-Ga e.V. A small but motivated group of preschool children participated in the project, developing and producing an audiobook with adult support. This project served as a valuable test, allowing the approach to be successfully applied on a larger scale in the “Bombastische Klassenfahrt” project.
Bombastische Klassenfahrt #
Bombastische Klassenfahrt was a larger project involving children from various social and cultural backgrounds in grades 4 through 8. In this project, children developed the plot, created main characters, and designed sound effects. The project was carried out with the aim of fostering children’s creativity and social inclusion, as well as providing them with the opportunity to learn new skills while working with modern technology.
This project demonstrates how creative initiatives can be successfully combined with educational goals and social responsibility, giving children the opportunity to develop their skills and gain unforgettable experiences.
Where to Listen ? #
The audiobooks themselves are currently not available online. Instead, you can listen to the music I composed for them: O.Rullis – Songs for Children’s Audiobooks – Vol. 1
