“0ip” is an experimental sound EP by Oskars Rullis. This project pushes the boundaries of audio art by embracing the zero input concept, where sound is crafted without any external signals. The result is an unfiltered auditory experience, where the raw and organic essence of sound comes to life through a captivating interplay of silence and noise.

Track 1: 0ip3 #
The centerpiece of the EP, “0ip3,” is a live performance that delves into the depths of minimalism. It captures the essence of the zero input philosophy, with sound waves ebbing and flowing in a meditative rhythm. This track is an immersive experience, drawing listeners into a world where sound is stripped down to its core.
Track 2: E. Rulle – 0ipE #
“0ipE” features a special live performance by E. Rulle, the artist’s three-year-old daughter. This track is a cut version of a longer jam session, offering a glimpse into the pure, spontaneous expression of sound. E. Rulle’s intuitive approach to sound generation adds a fresh, dynamic layer to the EP, creating a contrast to the more structured “0ip3.”
Track 3: 0ip3 (cut) – Work in Progress #
The final track is the radio version of “0ip3.” This cut is a more concise and accessible interpretation of the original live performance, tailored for broader listening while maintaining the experimental essence of the EP.
Artist Statement #
In “0ip,” I wanted to push the boundaries of sound art by stripping away the traditional elements of music production. Zero input became the foundation for this project, showing me the rawness of sound in its purest form. The live performances were unplanned, jam-like sessions, allowing the sound to evolve naturally. Through “0ip3,” “0ipE,” and the radio edit, I invite listeners to explore the spaces between sound and silence, and to experience the unexpected beauty that emerges from this balance.
All of the three sessions were filmed, but are currently, due to privacy reasons, unavailable for a larger audience.
